I know many of you have been anxious to see what advancements were done at camp, and now they have been updated on our advancements page. If you have any questions, please let us know. That being said, I promised more pictures and here they are. I'd like to thank Rick Cehon from pack 123 for acting as photographer!
Stay tuned since I'll add more photos once I find where I saved them to! Also, check out the Webelos Resident Camp Facebook page for a fun new contest! https://www.facebook.com/#!/webelos.r.camp

I want to apologize for not posting anything last night. We had our staff appreciation dinner which took up most of my evening. I do want to take a moment to thank everyone for attending our closing campfire for 2014. I also want to thank our staff for making 2014 a year to remember. You guys are tremendous! Please enjoy these pictures from our last day!
Our annual water carnival--cancelled on Wednesday due to the rain though Friday wasn't much better! Kids still had fun though!
Polar bear plunge early Friday morning. We had to cancel our ever popular Swamp Romp due to the depth of the swamp after Wednesday's rain.
It was super chilly but we did have a good amount of brave souls take the challenge.
Please keep checking back as I will be going through the pictures from other photographers and posting them. I will also work during this coming week to update our advancement page.
Thank you everyone for a terrific WRC summer!! If you have ideas for a theme for next year, please comment on this blog and let us know your thoughts!
PS--anyone who bought a customized WRC tshirt...they are fine to put in the washer machine. It's best to turn them inside out before washing, but they should last quite a few washes before they start to fade. We have one from 2 years ago that gets washed once a week and it's still in pretty good shape. Thank you to everyone who purchased these shirts!

After a day full of rain, today was a wonderful, refreshing day!! It was a great day for drying off clothes and airing out tents. We had a special presentation on the Asian Longhorn Beetle this morning that the boys enjoyed. Tonight's evening program included a campwide twister game and our closing camper campfire. The weather has turned cool, but that didn't stop our boys from enjoying an ice cream social sponsored by the Order of the Arrow. A great way to finish off a great week!
In science today boys got to launch a life sized trebuchet. I'll try to post video of the launching soon!
This is what happens when staff gets a hold of my camera!
Reminders for tomorrow's pick up...
Please do not arrive in camp before 3:15pm. The boys need to work as patrols to clean the sites and pack up their gear. If parents are there any earlier than that, they get very easily distracted. We will have our closing flag ceremony at 3:45 followed by our campfire starting at 4pm. The campfire should last approximately 1 hour. If for some reason you need to pick your son up early from camp, you MUST check in with our camp director Ryan upon your arrival in camp. You can call or text him at (774)200-1418. DO NOT take your camper out of camp without checking him out with Ryan first. We are still responsible for boys in camp! Our trading post will be open before and after our closing fire, so please make sure you stop in to claim any money your scout has left. The boys are all looking forward to telling you about their week!

So even with the curveball Mother Nature decided to throw at us, the webelos still had a fun day at camp. Waterfront was cut to 20 minute sessions to help curb hypothermia and instead of sports kids were given the option to do handicraft instead, but overall, our program went on as scheduled. Socks are soaked. Shoes are soaked. Poncho companies everywhere will stay in business for a while. A good story will be told by 95 cub scouts for many years to come.
The BB range was relatively dry and boys were hitting targets left and right!
More intense art students hard at work!
Unfortunately there was no way to keep our young fishermen out of the rain.
Our science director let the boys experiment with small trebuchets. Wait until you see what they do tomorrow...
One of our most popular evening programs is our dance party. DJ'd by our very own staff members Justin, Ben, and Jake, they had the tent thumping and kids having a blast!
Check out the video below to see a dance off between long time breakdancer and one of our lifeguards, Connor and one of our seasoned campers, Landen...
Tomorrow promises better weather (although it wouldn't take much to improve on today!) and lots more fun. Check us out tomorrow night for more photos!
